ICFP 2025 Youth Highlights

There were three distinct youth spaces designed by and for youth at ICFP 2025: the Youth Summit, Youth Plenary, and Youth Lounge.

Each of these youth-led spaces provided dynamic opportunities for knowledge exchange, capacity building, mentorship, and networking for young people working in SRHR. Read more about the impact of each of these initiatives below.

Despite coming from a marginalized community, the Phil Harvey SRHR Innovation Award reminded me that my work is being seen, we are being heard, and our voices matter. The award opened doors to new advocacy platforms and leadership opportunities, strengthening my confidence to champion community-led solutions and elevate voices often left out of decision-making spaces. It continues to inspire my commitment to ensuring that policies, programs, and investments in SRHR are shaped by our lived realities.”

Being a youth advocate can be an exhausting, tiring and often unrewarding journey where you’re constantly trying to build a space for yourself and your work despite all barriers – in the midst of this chaos, the passion is often lost. I’ve been working in SRHR for half a decade now, and these episodes of hopelessness fueled by the rising anti-rights movements, far-right politics, and funding cuts have become more common.

Being an ICFP Trailblazer was a reminder that as a young person, I hold power – power to show up, power to take space, and power to keep my passion for reproductive justice alive in the face of all odds.

Being part of the ICFP 2025 Trailblazers strengthened my voice as a young man living with HIV and an SRHR advocate from Cameroon. It affirmed that our lived experiences are powerful tools for policy change. The journey has expanded my global network and deepened my commitment to advancing youth-led, rights-based, and stigma free sexual and reproductive health services.
