Ina Kafunda

Ina Kafunda is a passionate and experienced Public Health Professional and Lawyer with over a decade of experience in implementing and managing public health programs in Africa. Her work focuses on HIV/AIDS, Sexual and Reproductive Health Justice, TB, Malaria, Health System Strengthening, and pandemic preparedness.

Ina’s areas of expertise include HIV/AIDS, TB, Global Health Equity, Adolescent SRHR, Health Policy advocacy, Malaria, and COVID-19 vaccination. She possesses a unique set of skills that include public health technical skills, strategy development for implementation of health programs, program management, qualitative and quantitative research, scientific and legal writing, business development, supply chain management, organizational operations, budgeting, and work planning. Additionally, her skills encompass Public Health Technical Expertise, Strategy Development and Implementation, Program and Project Management and Implementation, Budget Development and Monitoring, Budget Expenditure Analysis, Health System Strengthening, Research, Program Start-up and Closure, and Mid- and End-Project Evaluations.

Ina has a proven track record of leading a multidisciplinary team of over 150 staff distributed in different parts of the country in a coordinated effort to achieve project objectives as prescribed by the funders. Ina has led the strategic use of data to inform program implementation, provide technical support to Ministry of Health, and track key performance indicators. As a lead for technical assistance and direct service delivery teams, she has supervised over 150 people and implemented PEPFAR-funded programs at national, provincial, district, and facility levels in both urban and rural settings. Apart from her technical expertise, Ina has managed the operations of international USAID, CDC, and Bill & Melinda Gates organizations, being in charge of strategy and work plan development, budget development and monitoring, as well as the day-to-day implementation of programs.

Her extensive experience includes writing proposals and reports, stakeholder engagement and advocacy, data analysis and utilization, team coordination, and mentoring. Ina has successfully implemented projects financed by Bill and Melinda Gates, USAID, and the CDC, with a combined expenditure of over 100 million US dollars.

Ina recently graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a Master of Laws in National and Global Health Law to further enhance her skills in health equity, advocacy, and policy development.
