The Family Planning News Network (FPNN) is excited to announce its participation in the 2024 HIV Research for Prevention (HIVR4P) Conference in Lima, Peru, from October 6 to 10. FPNN, a community-powered media platform, will have a dedicated team of reporters on the ground, amplifying underrepresented voices in global family planning and reproductive health.

FPNN, funded by the W.H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health (WHGI) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, is committed to empowering the community to tell its own stories. Each FPNN reporter can choose their coverage angle and produce impactful stories highlighting critical issues at the intersection of HIV prevention, family planning, and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR).

What to Expect from FPNN at HIVR4P

During the HIVR4P Conference, FPNN reporters will:

  • Attend key sessions on the latest HIV research and innovations in prevention.
  • Collaborate with the FPNN Production Team to produce timely, high-quality coverage.
  • Engage with global health experts, researchers, and advocates to spotlight pressing issues in SRHR.
  • Share their stories across FPNN, WHGI, and the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) platforms, ensuring their content reaches a global audience.

This fellowship also paves the way for reporters to continue their media involvement, leading to ICFP 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia. Their work at HIVR4P will be featured in the ICFP 2025 “Road to Bogotá” series, showcasing the intersectionality of HIV prevention and family planning.
