ICFP 2022 Introduces the Phil Harvey SRHR Innovation Award

Aug 12, 2022

The Phil Harvey SRHR Innovation Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize and encourage emerging SRH leaders to explore bold, sex-positive, and rights-based approaches that leverage the private sector to advance access to information, products, and services that support individuals to enjoy healthy and fulfilling sexual lives.

Founder and chairman of DKT International until his passing on 2 December 2021, Phil Harvey was a champion of civil liberties whose fearless voice rang out to defend freedoms, especially the freedom of speech – and who pioneered large-scale social marketing programs for family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention in 57 countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

This award is being given in honor of his bold and innovative dedication to the family planning sector and the positive disruptions he made that have changed the lives of millions for the better.

In addition to a monetary award of up to $10,000 USD, the three winners of the Phil Harvey SRHR Innovation Award will be funded to attend the 2022 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) in Pattaya City, Thailand to accept their award on stage at the 2022 ICFP during the Red Carpet Evening Among the Stars Celebration on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 from 5:45-7:15 PM.

All winners are expected to complete their proposed SRHR innovation projects within a 2-year period. A mid-project and final-project report will be requested.

If an awardee changes their organization at any time after receiving the award, they may be allowed to take their work forward in the new workplace or complete it as an individual with appropriate institutional affiliation.
