The International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) Secretariat is thrilled to share that Dr. Philip Anglewicz, Director of the William H. Gates Sr. Institute for Population and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, has been named Chair of the ICFP International Steering Committee (ISC).
As Chair of the ICFP ISC, Dr. Anglewicz will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing ICFP 2025 taking place 3-6 November 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia. The ICFP ISC, which he leads, coordinates and oversees the the entirety of the planning, organization, and execution of the ICFP.
Dr. Anglewicz brings extensive experience from his career in family planning and demographic studies to this position. His journey started as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi and has included impactful roles at Futures Group, Tulane University, and Johns Hopkins University, where he’s made significant contributions to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) through his research, teaching, and mentorship.
Additionally, Dr. Anglewicz has served as Deputy Director of the William H. Gates Sr. Institute, and has led groundbreaking research as Principal Investigator of the Performance Monitoring for Action (PMA) platform, expanding its work across Africa and Asia.
Dr. Anglewicz assumed his new role on 1 July 2024, succeeding Jose “Oying” G. Rimon II, who retired after a decade of transformative leadership at the William H. Gates Sr. Institute.
