As the global family planning community prepares to gather in Bogotá, Colombia next week for the seventh International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP 2025), momentum is building for what promises to be a historic convening.
ICFP 2025 comes at a decisive moment for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) — as the world faces both reproductive rights rollbacks and a projected US $1.5 billion funding shortfall in reproductive-health programs.
This year’s conference — the first ever held in Latin America — will bring together more than 800 organizations, 50+ governments, and 2,000 scientific presentations to drive progress on access, equity, and autonomy.
Global leaders including Diene Keita, Executive Director of UNFPA, Marta Royo, Executive Director of Profamilia, and Dr. Philip Anglewicz, Director of the William H. Gates Sr. Institute, emphasize that this is a turning point for SRHR — one that demands evidence-based action and renewed political commitment.
“Contraception saves lives. It’s the front line of defense against maternal mortality,” said Ms. Keita. “We cannot afford complacency—women and girls are counting on us.”
