Bernard Onyango is a Senior Research and Policy Analyst at the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and leads its Population and Sustainable Development thematic area. He has extensive experience in the field of population and development and his recent work has focused on providing technical expertise to various Governments and development partners on the demographic dividend across Africa, including the identification and implementation of policy options to empower women and youth to harness the dividend. Bernard obtained his Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Sociology (Social Demography and Urbanization) from Brown University. He is a member of the Union for African Population Studies (UAPS), International Union of the Scientific Study of Populations (IUSSP), and the Population Association of America (PAA).
