Jamila Sabares-Klemm

Jamila Sabares-Klemm is an actor and singer who has been based in New York City for the last 10 years. She has been performing on stage for almost 20 years. She studied classical voice at Carver Center for the Arts in Baltimore, MD and got her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from Penn State University. After college, she immediately moved to New York City to pursue her professional career. She has been fortunate enough to travel around the country doing what she loves most— performing on stage, recently starring as Eliza Hamilton in the hit Broadway show “Hamilton” at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago. She’s also starred in: “Hair” (1st National Tour), “The Prince of Egypt” (TheatreWorks Silicon Valley), “Rent” (Bristol Riverside), “Miss Saigon” (Flat Rock Playhouse), “The King and I” (Chicago Lyric Opera), “Spamalot” (Farmers Alley), “In The Heights” (TUTS), “A Christmas Carol” (McCarter Theatre), “Macbeth” (New York Classical).

Offstage, Jamila is an active member of different grassroots movements.  She works to be an ally and supporter alongside those who’ve been silenced by systemic oppressions here on this land and around the world. She believes that another world is not only possible, but necessary and understands that all our struggles are interconnected. Her mission is to use her voice in solidarity with other voices and people who fight everyday for the liberation of all people.
