On December 3, the ICFP Secretariat hosted a community conversation as part of the 8th Nigerian Family Planning Conference. This two-hour event convened leaders and stakeholders from across Nigeria’s family planning (FP) and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) sectors to align national priorities with global strategies for the upcoming International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia.
This forum aimed to uncover programmatic insights, challenges, and opportunities while aligning local priorities with global strategies for ICFP 2025.
Focused Discussions, Diverse Perspectives
Participants joined roundtables grouped by the eleven ICFP subcommittees, which included advocacy, communications, program implementation, and youth leadership. These conversations illuminated Nigeria’s priorities within the global FP ecosystem, generating actionable insights to address programmatic gaps and amplify local successes.
Shaping the ICFP 2025
The insights from this event will serve as a foundation for Nigeria’s engagement at ICFP 2025, ensuring that local perspectives inform global strategies. The ICFP Secretariat has plans to host similar community conversations at other regional FP/SRHR convenings, allowing for community input into the program of ICFP2025. By aligning priorities and fostering cross-sector collaboration, countries will be well-positioned to showcase their achievements, exchange on challenges, and contribute meaningfully to advancing FP and SRHR worldwide.
Join ICFP on the Road to Bogotá
This roundtable demonstrated the power of inclusive dialogue in driving progress and highlighted Nigeria’s leadership in addressing complex FP challenges. The Road to Bogotá has begun, with yesterday’s conversation marking an important milestone in strengthening the global FP agenda.
