Alessio Cangiano is a Senior Advisor on Demographic Megatrends with UNFPA’s Population and Development Branch. He is a demographer (PhD Sapienza 2005) with extensive experience in population data collection, demographic research and policy analysis, technical assistance and capacity building in Europe, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. He came to UNFPA’s Headquarter from the Mozambique Country Office, where he provided technical assistance for census analysis and dissemination and the implementation of the national roadmap for the demographic dividend. In his previous academic roles, Alessio worked as coordinator of the Demography program at the University of the South Pacific; as a researcher at the University of Oxford’s Center on Migration, Policy and Society.
