Scientific Sessions

ICFP 2025 delivers top-tier scientific programming, featuring sessions across 14 thematic conference tracks that span the full breadth of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)—and intersecting issues beyond.

Abstracts:

This year’s scientific program draws from a record-breaking 5,174 abstracts submissions. These research, program implementation, and advocacy abstracts were submitted by individuals from 125 countries, reflecting the global community’s resilience, innovation, and collective commitment to advancing equity. Submissions were received in English (78.86%), Spanish (11.83%), and French (9.32%), with French submissions up 52% from ICFP 2022—marking a growing linguistic and regional diversity. More than 35% of submissions came from youth (aged 35 and under), reinforcing ICFP’s dedication to intergenerational leadership and inclusive knowledge sharing.

ICFP 2025 also welcomed a record 1,270 abstract reviewer applications, with 972 selected—an increase of 42% from ICFP 2022—underscoring the scientific community’s strong commitment to shaping the program at a pivotal moment for the SRHR field.

The official abstract review process is currently underway, with abstract acceptances going out in mid-June 2025.

Final Program:

The final ICFP 2025 scientific program—coming soon to the ICFP website and newsletter—will feature an anticipated 114 oral long sessions, 40 oral short sessions, 8 poster sessions, and 20 online-only sessions (subject to change).

ICFP LIVE Stage

The ICFP LIVE Stage is a bold, inclusive space for storytelling, dialogue, and connection—designed to be accessible and engaging for all attendees, regardless of background or area of expertise. First launched at ICFP 2022, this stage brings the field to life through powerful sessions that highlight underrepresented voices, overlooked issues, unspoken realities, taboo topics, urgent challenges, and groundbreaking ideas.

Returning for ICFP 2025, the ICFP LIVE Stage will spotlight powerful narratives from across the SRHR field. Sessions are short and designed for quick yet thought-provoking engagement. As part of our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, all ICFP LIVE Stage sessions will be available on-demand in English, French, and Spanish.

Community-produced Content:

Applications to host a community-driven ICFP LIVE Stage session will open soon, welcoming anyone in the SRHR field and beyond to share insights and innovations that challenge us all to think and act differently. Sign up for the ICFP newsletter to be alerted when applications open.

Family Planning News Network (FPNN) Content:

The FPNN team will produce an extensive series of ICFP LIVE Stage sessions, including conference highlights, ICFP Youth Trailblazer-led reporting, policy conversations, preconference recaps, and more. This content will bring real-time news and fresh insights from around the conference to a global audience.

Pre/Post-conferences

Before the official opening of ICFP 2025, preconferences and side events begin on 1 November 2025, providing opportunities for participants to explore critical issues and emerging topics across different areas of the SRHR field. Post-conferences begin on 6 November 2025, after the conference ends.

These specialized sessions are separate from the main conference and hosted by a wide range of organizations, including—but not limited to—ICFP’s 11 subcommittees. Pre/post-conferences come in a variety of formats, such as panels, workshops, networking sessions, brainstorming forums, or a combination of these. At ICFP 2022, there were 31 official preconferences.

Pre/post-conferences are independently organized, and participants must register separately for those they wish to attend once information is available. During the ICFP 2025 registration process, participants can indicate their interest in specific preconferences to receive updates and secure their spot.

Side Events

Similar to preconferences, side events at ICFP 2025 are independently organized and typically focus on specific topics within SRHR. These events are hosted by one or more organizations—often sponsors—and offer an opportunity to explore specialized content. Details for each side event will be announced as they are finalized. There were 63 total side events at ICFP 2022.

If your organization is interested in hosting an official side event through ICFP, please contact the ICFP 2025 sponsorship team.

Special Events

ICFP 2025 will feature a series of special evening events that bring the global SRHR community together in celebration and recognition. These gatherings—featuring musical performances, award ceremonies, and other creative formats—provide opportunities to honor the field’s achievements, connect informally with colleagues, and be inspired by the creativity and passion driving SRHR work.

Networking Spaces

At ICFP 2025, networking is woven into every moment of the conference, creating endless opportunities to learn, grow, and propel shared goals. It’s one of the most valued aspects of ICFP—present in every session, coffee and tea break, preconference, side event, exhibition area, and special event.

Whether you’re forging new partnerships, strengthening existing ties, collaborating on innovative projects, or finding your next career move, ICFP offers the chance to build meaningful connections that can shape your future in SRHR.

Networking Events:

As in previous years, ICFP 2025 expects to see numerous formal networking events planned by a variety of partners and collaborators. More information about specific networking events will be announced as they are finalized in the lead up to the conference.

ICFP Youth Lounge:

Dedicated spaces like the ICFP Youth Lounge (for participants aged 35 and under) provide further opportunities to meet colleagues and peers from around the world. The ICFP Youth Lounge is a safe, dedicated physical space for young people to convene, encouraging creativity, dialogue, and idea-sharing. A highlight of ICFP for many attendees, this fun and welcoming environment cultivates countless collaborations.

Mentoring Activity

The ICFP 2025 Mentoring Activity fosters impactful relationships that inspire growth, drive innovation, and lead to lasting change in the field of family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

This initiative is all about people—connecting seasoned professionals with emerging leaders, creating a space where knowledge is shared, experiences are valued, and new ideas can take root.
