Meet the ICFP 2025 Media Fellows: Elevating Global Voices for Equity Through Action

October 2025 – Bogotá, Colombia

From Delhi to Los Angeles, from Accra to Mérida — ten outstanding journalists have been selected as the ICFP 2025 Media Fellows, representing the very best in global reporting on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Through their storytelling, these fellows will bring the conversations of the world’s largest family planning conference to millions around the globe — amplifying local perspectives, uncovering new narratives, and holding leaders accountable to their commitments.

Together, they embody the spirit of Equity Through Action — using the power of journalism to bridge borders, challenge inequality, and spotlight solutions.

🌍 Introducing the 2025 Media Fellows

🇮🇳 Shobha Shukla (India)

Managing Editor, Citizen News Service
A veteran health journalist based in Delhi, Shukla has spent decades documenting grassroots experiences of women and marginalized communities in South Asia. Her reporting champions evidence-based advocacy and rights-centered approaches to SRHR.

🇻🇪 Emmanuel José Rivas (Venezuela)

Freelance Journalist, Caleidoscopio Humano / ASAC
Broadcast journalist Emmanuel Rivas brings sharp investigative focus and human-centered storytelling to issues of gender, migration, and health equity in Latin America.

🇬🇭 Alice Aryeetey (Ghana)

News Editor and Reporter, EIB Network (GHOne TV & StarrFM)
An award-winning broadcast journalist, Aryeetey is known for her powerful reporting on women’s health, gender justice, and youth empowerment across Africa.

🇺🇸 Sonia Narang (United States)

Multimedia Journalist, NPR stations
With a background in documentary and broadcast journalism, Narang brings global experience covering health, environment, and women’s rights from the U.S. to South Asia and beyond.

About the Fellowship

The ICFP Media Fellowship, coordinated by the Family Planning News Network (FPNN), supports journalists committed to advancing accurate, human-centered reporting on SRHR.

Fellows receive training, mentorship, and access to the ICFP 2025 newsroom in Bogotá, where they will produce stories that inspire action and accountability.
