Choice, Access, and Agency: A Youth Call to Action Ahead of ICFP 2025

Sep 25, 2025

By Innocent Grant, Youth Subcommittee Co-Chair

This spirit of agency and access is at the heart of the upcoming ICFP Youth Summit (November 1–2, 2025, Bogotá, Colombia).

For months, young leaders from across the globe have worked tirelessly to co-create one of the most vibrant and inclusive spaces at ICFP 2025. As co-chair of the Youth Subcommittee, I have witnessed firsthand the energy, creativity, and dedication that have been poured into shaping this program.

Volunteers, advocates, and partners have not only shared their time and resources but also their vision for a more equitable future in family planning and SRHR.

The Youth Summit program reflects the diversity and urgency of our movement.

From the Stories of Change Plenary that sets the tone with powerful youth narratives, to interactive breakout rooms on SMART Advocacy, Innovation & Human-Centered Design, SRHR in Challenging Contexts, Program Implementation,  Mental Health, Climate, Selfcare interventions & SRHR, and Rights-Based Approaches, every session is built to equip and inspire and more important to respond to our key guiding questions about leveraging evidence and building inclusive intergenerational future.

We will also feature moments of art and activism through Arts4Advocacy, as well as intergenerational dialogues that bring young people and senior leaders together as equals.

Reflecting on World Contraception Day

Together, these spaces echo the World Contraception Day call for choice, intention, and access—ensuring young people are not just participants but co-creators of the global Family Planning (FP) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)agenda. With over 500 youth participants expected, the ICFP Youth Summit is more than a pre-conference; it is a movement-building ground for resilience, equity, and intergenerational solidarity.

As we look ahead to Bogotá, the voices of young leaders give me hope—hope for a future where rights are respected, services are accessible, and choices are truly for all. I would like to extend a special thank you to our current sponsors of the ICFP Youth Summit, including CIFF, Plan International, DKT International, Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, and all our partners who have stepped forward to help us realize the dream of meaningful intergenerational collaboration.

Equally, heartfelt appreciation goes to our ICFP Youth Trailblazers, the Global Roadmap for Action (GRA), Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) Regional Youth Leaders, and every member of the ICFP Youth Subcommittee who have joined countless calls, contributed ideas, and invested their time and resources to shape this agenda. Your commitment, energy, and creativity have built a meaningful program that reflects the hopes and realities of young people worldwide.
