MEDIA ADVISORY
FPNN offers curated coverage and two media briefings on COP 28, climate change and family planning and SRHR
November 20, 2023
In an effort to influence the climate conversations taking place during COP 28, FPNN is engaging journalist and content creators in reporting on the often overlooked link between climate change and SRHR.
According to UNFPA’s new report, “Taking Stock: Sexual and Reproductive and Health and Rights in Climate Commitments: A Global Review”, there is much work to done to address the impacts of climate change on SRHR. This report looks at the level of integration of SRHR, GBV and harmful practices into country-level climate action plans or Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The report found that only 38 countries include issues related to SHR, GBV and harmful practices in the 119 national plans that were reviewed.
This is only one of the conversations taking place during COP 28. Participants of this annual climate meeting will be holding sessions and having conversations about a wide range of topics including how to transition to clean energy, the value of community-led approaches, and the challenges of financing.
In an effort to make sense of the topics and happenings at COP 28 that relate to SRHR, FPNN is offering a COP 28 + FP/SRHR Content Hub that will curate top SRHR content. Additionally, FPNN will offer two media briefings that are designed to bring together leading sector experts to provide background information and reporting guidance. These briefings are for journalists and content creators.
